Happy weekend everyone!
I have a book tag for y’all today because I MISS doing tags. Tags are really fun and I just do them even if I’m not tagged for them because life is short and YOLO and all that.
I saw this tag over at Bookmark Your Thoughts and it looked really fun. So yeah, here I am, doing it!
A really hyped book you’re not interested in reading

Does A Song of Ice and Fire count? It’s really popular but I feel like the TV show is way more popular. Anyway, I’m not interested. I admit, I tried reading book 1 and I watched some of the TV show. Even after that, I’m as uninterested in it as I was before.
A series you won’t start/won’t be finishing

This is an unpopular opinion. I won’t be finishing/continuing the Legacy of Orisha series by Tomi Adeyemi. I didn’t like Children of Blood and Bone. Enough that I don’t even want to try to read the next book.
You can read my review by clicking here to know all my thoughts on the book.
A classic you’re not interested in

Honestly there are a LOT of classics that I’m not interested in. I’m not someone who likes classics, as it is. If I had to choose… War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy. It’s the one I’m least interested in.
A genre you never read

I don’t think there’s a genre I never read. I’ve tried just about everything at least once. Mostly because I used to pick up random books from the library when I first got into reading.
The genre I read least is Classics.
A book on your shelves you’ll probably never actually read

I have a beautiful hardcover edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rownling. And I’m pretty sure I will never read it. This is because of multiple reasons but the main one is that I just don’t feel like reading JKR’s works anymore. Especially not the newer ones.
I nominate the following amazing people for the tag:
CW @ The Quiet Pond
Kirithika @ The Wolfish Delight
…and anyone else who wants to do this tag!
I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend, and I’ll see you next time!
What is one popular or hyped book that you are absolutely not interested in? Tell me in the comments!
This is one I will be doing. Great post😍

Lately, almost everyone’s going against her. It’s sad to see but also.. what do we do.

I agree on Game of Thrones! I just couldn’t get into the first one so I don’t plan on ever reading them.

Oh! It’s a pity you don’t wanna read War and Peace! I am about to read it.
I agree on Fantastic Beasts. I loved the first movie, the second one…meh.

Considering I don’t like classics.. it is what it is 😅

A hyped book that I have no interest in reading would probably be King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo. I hated Shadow and Bone, liked Six of Crows, but really disliked Crooked Kingdom. I’m just not that interested in giving her books another try… 🤷♀️ Unpopular opinion I know 😬

I’ve only read the Six of Crows duology, Shadow and Bone is on my TBR, and I’m not sure on King of Scars. I haven’t heard a lot of praise from others on KoS as well so, you’re not losing much!

Totally agree about Children of Blood and Bone. Such a disappointment!

You’re only the second person I’ve seen who doesn’t like it! Almost everyone I talk to praise it so much 🙄

I think it’s at least partly because it being West African inspired. And I mean yeah, sure. I appreciate the diversity too. But that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t also be a good book.

Same! Everyone’s so caught up in the diversity rep that they’re not looking at the plot and characters.

Yeah, I was really annoyed after reading the book because it had been so hyped up and about a third of the way into it, I could already tell that the hype was just because of diversity. I had a proper rant about it. If you think about it, this kind of attitude doesn’t do favours for diversity. Publishers are going to publish anything diverse regardless of whether or not it’s good because it sells. So we’ll end up with a boatload of crappy diverse books. Under-represented groups deserve good representation, amazing stories and characters.

Completely agreed! We want diversity but we also want GOOD BOOKS because diversity deserves great books.

I’m glad you enjoyed doing this! I ended up reading “Fantastic Beasts” and it was actually pretty good! Quick and easy read 🙂
But I have to agree … I don’t think I will ever read War & Peace … and I have no interest lol!

I just lost all interest in Fantastic Beasts, sadly. And haha I’m the same about War & Peace.
