Book tags are the best tags. There’s an almost abundance of them, they’re fun and they talk about B O O K S. What else do we need?
This tag was created by buydebook over on Goodreads and I was tagged to do this by Rebecca—thank you so much for tagging me! I’m finally getting around to doing it over two months later, lol. #timeliness Go show her some love y’all, she’s awesome.
1. HOW MANY BOOKS IS TOO MANY BOOKS IN A BOOK SERIES?
More than 5! Two is a little less, three is PERFECT, 4 is manageable, 5 is a little over and more than that is definitely over. If a series has over 5 books, you can be sure that I will not reread it unless I have nothing else to do.
2. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?
I have a love-hate relationship with cliffhangers. I absolutely HATE them for the same reason everyone else hates them—the suspense is too much and we cannot wait until the next book releases.
BUT. I love cliffhangers sometimes because it gives me ALL. THE. FEELS. and I love nothing more than having a bunch of feels. It’s reason #5204* of why I love books.
*just picked a random number there
3. HARDCOPY OR PAPERBACK?
This is an ongoing debate for everyone and I know that most book-lovers pick hardbacks. But I pick paperback.
I can almost here you saying whaaaaaat but let me explain. Harcopies are durable, look good both with and without the cover, their spines don’t break while reading and they genuinely make you feel good.
On the other hand, paperbacks cost less. I wish I could afford all the books that I wan’t, but I can’t be spending like that. Nowadays I’ve taken to selling back books at the second-hand store and buying others. So being a practical person who prefers reading more books than owning them, I choose paperback.
4. FAVORITE BOOK?
Petition to ban this question from being asked, EVER. don’t do this to me. I’m just sitting here, listening to music and answering harmless (or so I thought) questions about books. Don’t make me choose unless you tell me specifics like my favourite in a genre AND category.
Whatever book I choose, I’ll feel like I’m betraying my other favourites and I can’t do this. There are too many.
Not answering this bye.
5. LEAST FAVORITE BOOK?
Hm… Sweet Thing by Renee Carlino. I also really didn’t like Too Late by Colleen Hoover even though I like all other books of hers. I can only remember these two that I ranted about A LOT immediately.
6. Love triangles, yes or no?
NO A HUNDRED THOUSAND TIMES NO.
I’m a b s o l u t e l y done with the trope and I will be happy to never read a book featuring it again. It’s been way overdone and almost always the girl goes for the non-reliable bad boy! I try to stay clear of books that have love triangles.
7. THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU JUST COULDN’T FINISH?
It’s a book that I DNFed not one chapter in. I heard a good review on #nerd by Cambria Herbert on Goodreads and decided to check out a sample first. On a hunch. GOOD THING GUYS BECAUSE I HATED IT.
It has the common athletic popular guy and nerdy shy girl, which I don’t mind on occasion. BUT he was only in college for the sport and women and I?? just?? hate that??
Picture this: it’s his first tutoring session with the female MC* and what does he do? Say “I’ll be back in a few” and ends up doing stuff with another girl in the corner of the library for a long time, keeping this poor girl waiting. He’s an absolute jackass and I don’t care about his character arc, I’m done bye.
*main characters
8. A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?
At the time of writing this post (which is about a week before it’s published), I’m reading The Belles by Dhonieele Clayton. It’s really interesting and I’m LOVING the concept and world-building.
9. LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?
I recommended The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss to a friend of mine while reading it, and he actually finished reading it before me! He’s well through the second book at the moment while I just finished it about a couple hours ago.
10. OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?
Um? I don’t know? I usually don’t tend to go far back, though? It’ll probably be one of the few classics I’ve read..
*shrug*
11. NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?
Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi! It released earlier this month and I read it as soon as I could! I devoured it in a short span of time, probably shouldn’t have done that since I’m pretty sure I would have missed small details, and I actually got a friend hooked onto it as well. I told her the story and now she’s as invested into it as I am hehe.
Click here to read my review on it!
12. FAVOURITE AUTHOR?
So how do I break this, by genre? Category? Just like I can’t pick one favourite book, I can’t pick one favourite author!
Okay I know, I’ll just mention the top auto-buy authors that I love:
- Colleen Hoover
- Sarah J. Maas
- Penny Reid
- Mariana Zapata (new fav!)
- Mia Sheridan
- Marie Lu
- Cassandra Clare (my longest fav author)
13. BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?
Borrowing! I’ve taken to buy books only after I’ve read them because I haven’t had the best luck with buying new books and loving them. I can name at least three books on my shelf that I wish I didn’t buy.
The best solution I found, which I stick to now, is buying books from a second hand bookstore. If I don’t like the book, I sell it back for half the price or if I like it, I keep it. Simply and easy.
14. A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEM TO LOVE?
TRUTHWITCH! Believing the hype, I bought the first two books and I regret it now.
15. BOOKMARKS OR DOG-EARS?
Bookmarks! It’s not just the dog-ear hate that most of book lovers have, but I generally hate folded pages in any books be it novels, notebooks or textbooks. I hate the crease it leaves.
16. A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS REREAD?
Only one? Bruh, no. I’m mentioning multiple.
- Lady Midnight/Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
- Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli
- A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
- The Selection by Kiera Cass
17. CAN YOU READ WHILE HEARING MUSIC?
When I was younger, I was baffled at the concept. I saw a picture of a girl reading while listening to music in the newspaper and I told my mum, “how? how is she doing that? how is she concentrating?” because I used to give my music all the attention whenever I listened. But in the last years of high school, I started using slow music to tune out other sounds and now I’m actually okay with it.
I don’t prefer it but I would more likely listen to music while reading if I’m in public.
18. ONE POV OR MULTIPLE POV’S?
Depends on the story. If it’s romance or contemporary, I would prefer one POV because we’re focusing on one character mostly. But in other genres, I prefer multiple POVs so I can know what’s happening with everyone and keep up instead of having “catch-ups”.
19. DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?
If I get totally immersed into the book, I read it in one sitting if possible (usually isn’t). But for huge books that I’m not completely into like The Book Thief and The Name of The Wind, I take my time. I don’t like them enough to breathe it in ASAP but it’s enough to make me want to finish reading them.
I generally do better reading books that I’ve picked up myself than recommendations or reviews. I usually take longer for those.
20. ONE BOOK YOU READ BECAUSE OF THE COVER?
The Crown by Kiera Cass! After the disaster of The Heir, I did NOT want to read the last book. I was regretting reading The Heir itself. But when I saw the cover of The Crown? SO BLOOMING BEAUTIFUL, GUYS. I WAS IN LOVE. I ordered it immediately and read it later.
I still catch myself admiring the cover on my shelf.
You’ve been tagged!
I would love for anyone interested to do the tag but specifically I would love to read the answers of..

Haha I’m the same way with my tags! I think my last five-star read was Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds. It’s written in verse and I listened to the audio book, it was SO good. 😎

Oh this is such a fun tag, I loved reading your answers – and we have things in common, yay! I’m also a paperback kind of person – I love how pretty hardbacks can be, but…. they’re so expensive and less practical so, whenever I can, I will turn to paperbacks, too 🙂
I’m so glad to hear you’re enjoying The Belles! I loved the concept and world-building of that one 😀

Thank you! And yes paperbacks for practicality always. The Belles was pretty nice! The ending was rushed but I can’t wait for the sequel
