Title: Neanderthal Marries Human
Author: Penny Reid
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Status: Book #1.5 of Knitting in the City
Synopsis:
There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.
After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn—former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat—is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day—thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions. But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.
Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?
This book follows the characters Jamie and Quinn from Neanderthal Seeks Human, which is one of my favourite romances. You can read my very gushing review for it here.
This review includes spoilers for Neanderthal Seeks Human.
The Plot
WE SEE MORE OF JAMIE AND QUINN.
Quinn is very ready to marry Jamie and settle down with her for real. But as usual, Jamie over-thinks. She thinks that because they’ve dated for only 5 months, they haven’t really been through any hardships together. Their love hasn’t been tested. So she decides to have a proper wedding, involving ALL the hard stuff that comes with wedding planning. If they survive that, they can survive anything, right?
Including things from family issues and flower arrangement to wedding dresses, this book is a hilarious and adorable continuation to Jamie and Quinn’s story.
I basically like this book because we get more of my OTP, to be honest. I will read ANYTHING involving these two. No picky business.
The Characters
Jamie showed why I love her so much. She’s awesome.
Quinn showed why I love him so much. He’s the best.
We also saw more of the friends group dynamic, which I loved.
I LOVE EVERYONE, OKAY? OVER.
The Romance
THIS GAVE ME SO MUCH HAPPY FEELS I CAN’T DEAL. I reread it about one week after the first read. I love it a lot. I love these two, they’re my OTP forever and it’ll be hard for another couple to beat them.
Overall
Nothing to be said except I LOVED IT.
