Happily || the Cinderella retelling we’ve all been waiting for

Note: I received an eARC of the book for free from the author in return for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I love Cinderella and any and all retellings of it. If there's ANY Cinderella retelling, I'm there. Now that we've established that, I would have LOVED to hear this story when I was younger...

Flying Without Wings || short poetic read

I've been seeing this book around for a while now so when I saw it in the bookstore, I picked it up. I wasn't very impressed but it's a good enough read. The Plot Millie Bajwa has been living a less-than-mediocre life, barely making ends and living in a crumbling house with her pill-addicted mother. She works in a gift shop in the airport and watches flights and dreams.  On the other side of town, Karan[...]

20 questions book tag

Book tags are the best tags. There's an almost abundance of them, they're fun and they talk about B O O K S. What else do we need? This tag was created by buydebook over on Goodreads and I was tagged to do this by Rebecca—thank you so much for tagging me! I'm finally getting around to doing it over two months later, lol. #timeliness Go show her some love y'all, she's awesome[...]

American Panda || a story about living between two cultures

Y'all, THIS IS WHY WE NEED MORE DIVERSE BOOKS. I absolutely loved reading about Chinese traditions, beliefs and myths. Not only that, this book portrays how it is to be of two cultures, to be a mix of two worlds and manage it, or maybe not manage it. I loved every single aspect of this book, so let's move on to some of them specifically...

10 Things You Should Be Doing Before Publishing Your Blog Post

Blogging isn't easy. You have to concentrate on your content, your voice, images, blog look, social media and much more. At the center of it all is every single one of your blog posts. They are the ones that convince your readers to come back. Getting your posts out and increasing new viewers is important, but readers who come back and stay with you are even more important. I've already spoken about[...]

Why I changed my rating of Until Lilly from 5 to 3 stars

Let me begin with saying that, at first, I rated Until Lilly by Aurora Rose Reynolds 4 stars. Later, I made it 5 stars after realizing that it's one of the few books in which the secret-child trope is done well. But during my third read of the book, I couldn't ignore the problematic elements anymore. They nagged me and I eventually changed my rating down to 3 stars[...]

10 books that surprised me by being awesome

10 books that surprised me by being awesome

One of the best feelings is going into a book with 0 expectations and ending up loving it. I will never get tired of that. I used to pick up books under no recommendation and hype before, and that's how I found most of my all-time favourites. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by The Artsy Reader Girl and this week's topic is Books that surprised me. I've spoken enough about my favourites so today I'm going to talk about books that went in with low expectations and ended up really liking.

There may be spoilers for the first three books. HELLO I HAVE BEEN SCREAMING ABOUT THIS BOOK EVER SINCE IT WAS ANNOUNCED. AND THERE'S NO SIGN THAT I WILL STOP. Back when it was announced? I cried THANK YOU. After Ignite Me, I've been living off fanfictions and I've read fanfictions so much that at this point I'm a little muddled on what is canon* and what isn't. And guess what I did? I went on to read Restore Me without reading the first three books (I reread only book 3) because my TBR is huge. And I'll admit, I was confused in some places BUT. That did not stop the book from UTTERLY TEARING ME APART[...]

Genuine Fraud || if only the ending was different..

I absolutely LOVED We Were Liars by the author and I jumped at the chance to read this. I grabbed it from the shelf in the bookstore without hesitation. I KNEW I would love it, especially since I also heard good things about it online. The Plot The story is narrated backwards, which is the best part of the book[...]

Lucky in Love || interesting concept but I’m not in love

Kasie West's books have mostly been 3 starrers for me and this is no different. The reason I picked it up was because of the lottery storyline. She explored the drastic changes in someone's life that lottery money brings—the god and the bad.

The Plot

Maddie is getting through one day at a time[...]

Hannah Carmack: Building the Ultimate Book Playlist

Hey everyone! I'm so pleased to announce that we have Hannah Carmack, author of Take Your Medicine, here to guest post today. She's written a post on making book playlists which is super helpful so I'm going to sign off here and let you read her words[...]

The Disappearance of Adele Bedeau || more psychological, less mystery

Note: I received a copy from the publisher in return for an honest review. Thank you BEE publishers! I've been wanting to get out of my romance-reading streak so when I got the chance to review this, I jumped on it. The story proceeds slowly, is creepy and dark[...]
