10 books I meant to read in 2017 but didn’t

10 books I meant to read in 2017 but didn't

My TBR is an ever-growing mountain, okay? I am bound to miss out on reading books for a long time. And this is the case for many bookworms, which is why this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is VERY easy to do.

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme hosted until now by The Broke and The Bookish but will be taken over by The Artsy Reader Girl from next week. Each week we are given a topic and we make blog posts out of it. Fun, right? You get to make lists! Also really helpful when you run out of blog post ideas.

Anyway, to the list.

[1] Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I have been seeing this book and it’s sequelΒ Gemina practically EVERYWHERE. It’s on my TBR! I just am intimidated by the size, the hype and also it’s price.

To be honest, I’m not sure I’ll get to it this year as well? Tragedy, I know, but I can’t help it. I’ll consider it once the series is done, maybe? I just have to avoid spoilers until then. Or not because my memory span is very short and I don’t even remember what I had for dinner last night.

[2] They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera

I’ve been meaning to read both this and History is all you left me by the author. Never got around to it. I suck, I know. Someone let me borrow this book, thanks.

[3] The Rest of us Just l

Live Here by Patrick Ness

YES I KNOW this was so hyped last year and pretty much EVERYONE was reading and raving about it, but I didn’t. I think that was the period when I was into romance books? Not sure. But yeah, haven’t read it.

[4] The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

This was compared to Gossip Girl and everyone who read it has been loving it. I want to read it because it’s so popular but the Gossip Girl comparison threw me off a little? I binged the first season of the show and decided it wasn’t my thing. I’m worried this book won’t be either. We’ll see.

[5] Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

To be fair, I DID try to read it. I used my free audiobook trial on this as well but I just couldn’t get into it! I tried reading the book. Nope. I watched a few episodes of the show. Nope.

I tried so hard to understand why people love it so much, then decided it wasn’t my thing and abandoned it. Probably won’t read it at all. Don’t hate me, Outlander fans.

[6] Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

Same reasons as Illuminae. I’m intimidated by this book. I might pick it up after the series is done, though? I do want to read this.

[7] Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch

This is one of the oldest books on my TBR and I planned to finished it last year. But no, I had to be a mood reader and pick up newer books than age old ones on my TBR. #killing_the_TBR_game

[8] Uglies by Scott Westerfield

I have heard so many good things about this series and it sounds really interesting but I HAVEN’T READ IT YET AND I DON’T KNOW WHY. I’m slowly losing my cool writing this blog post because I can’t believe I haven’t read these books yet.

[9] And I Darken by Kiersten White

Another huge book that I’m intimidated by. What if I don’t like it enough? What if it’s good but it’s so big and my attention span isn’t enough? I have huge life problems.

No matter that I can read Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare which is over 700 pages. I still don’t go for large books. Why am I like this.

[10] Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

Back when college began and I made my first friend, the first thing she asked me after finding out that I’m a reader is if I’ve read Alex Rider. She gasped, exclaimed about how I have not yet and proceeded to say that I HAD to read it. Immediately.

It’s been over a year now. I still haven’t read it.

We’ve come to the end of my list without even breaking the surface of all the books I meant to read last year but didn’t. I can name more but I’m also pressed for time here since my finals have STILL NOT FINISHED?????

My last final is on 11th (I CAN SEE THE END FINALLY) and I cannot wait to get it over with. It’s also the subject I’ve been most stressed about so.. wish me luck!

What books didn’t you read that you were supposed to? Are there any books on your TBR that have been there since ages? Are any books on my list on yours as well? Tell me in the comments! Also link me to your TTTs if you’ve posted as well.

  1. Good luck on your finals!! I wrote a similar post today, but some others I’d add to my list are Young Jane Young, What I Lost and Juliet Takes a Breath πŸ™‚

  2. I didn’t particularly enjoy Thousandth Floor because the characters weren’t relatable and the plot was all over the place.

A lot of these books I still need to read, too. Illuminate has been on my list for far too long!

Uglies is SO GOOD from what I remember. I read all but the last book since the last book switches characters.
