10 2018 books I want in my hands NOW

2018 is going to be a glorious year. Why? Because (1) I said so and (2) WE HAVE AMAZING BOOKS COMING. We’ve had brilliant books in 2017 as well but I haven’t been this involved in the book community before and I am so excited to see what 2018 brings.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is Top 10 2018 anticipated releases and I’m here to share just that.

NOTE: The Broke and The Bookish, who have been hosting Top Ten Tuesday since 2010 have handed over the reins to That Artsy Reader from January 16th so she will be hosting the bookish meme from then on.

I don’t have a habit of following books and reading them as they come out because I like to see the hype, read reviews and pick books up as I get the mood. Therefore, most of the books I look forward to are sequels of books I’ve already read. You’ll see a lot of those in this list.

Let’s get to it!

[1] Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi

This will be the 4th book in the Shatter Me series.

I cannot tell you how much excited I was when I found out that we’re getting a fourth book. It’s been THREE years since Ignite Me and we all thought that was the end. It had quite an open ending and I wasn’t ready for it to be over—hence I was living on fanfiction.

I’m so glad that Tahereh Mafi decided to write more in the world and I CANNOT WAIT.

I also did a cover reveal and excerpt reaction for this book which you can read by clicking here.

[2] Warcross #2 by Marie Lu

Yet untitled, but HIGHLY anticipated. I loved the first book so much that I saved up and bought the paperback from a second-hand bookstore. I was torn between this and Language of Thorns because I couldn’t buy both, but I HAD to choose this. I needed it in paperback form.

Check out my review of Warcross here.

[3] Throne of Glass #7 by Sarah J Maas

I’ll admit, this is not my absolute favourite series or books or ships, but I’ve been following this for four years. I’m about ready to be done with the series and I really want to know how it ends, FAST. It was supposed to be six books but it became seven.

I’m gonna read it as soon as I get my hands on it.

[4] The Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor

This will be the sequel to Strange the Dreamer and I can’t wait to delve back into that world! It’s a whole new world with AMAZING world-building by Laini Taylor and I want the second book NOW.

What I liked best about Strange the Dreamer was how different it was. After reading as many books as I have, many tend to run similar and this was one of the 100% unique books.

[5] The Queen of Air and Darkness by Cassandra Clare

This list wouldn’t have been complete without this book which is competing for my most anticipated book alongside Restore Me. Honestly, give me only these two books the next year and I’ll be fine.

Cassandra Clare broke my heart into pieces, crushed them with the Lord of Shadows book (which is huge) and let the pieces just lie there. I NEEDED THE BOOK THE SECOND I FINISHED LOS but I’ll settle for the release day, which will probably be later than in US/UK because that’s just how it is. But yeah, really looking forward to it.

Also, can I just say I’m ECSTATIC that the release date has been pre-poned to 2018 from 2019? I was HEARTBROKEN when I saw that it would take two years initially.

[6] A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J Maas

This is a novella (#3.5) to the ACOTAR series and the story will be taking place after the events of ACOWAR. There are so many possibilities with the side characters and I can’t wait for her to write stories on them.

This book will bridge ACOTAR series with future spin-offs so I’m hoping that we get more of other characters even though it’s narrated by Feyre and Rhysand. Speaking of, we finally get narration from Rhys’s POV!

[7] Three Dark Crowns #3 by Kendare Blake

This was supposed to be a duology but the author got contracted for TWO more books and hence here we are. I’ll admit, I was very disappointed when the book didn’t end and only when I came to Goodreads to investigate WHY did I realise that two more books were announced.

The ending of book 2 was rushed and I didn’t like it. It was pretty messy. But, I am still looking forward to book 3 because it looks like we’ll finally be seeing more of that world away from the main island. I was wondering about life outside of there and I hope we get to see a lot of that.

[8] My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Jodi Meadows and Brodi Ashton

I loved loved LOVED book 1 of the series The Lady Janies. It was hilarious, funny and captivating. I absolutely adore the writing/narrating style and the plot twists.

The series is a collection of loose retellings of stories (real or not) whose MC is named Jane. The first book was about Lady Jane Grey and this sequel is about Jane Eyre. I can’t wait! I’m pretty sure it’s going be VERY hilarious.

[9] A Thousand Perfect Notes by C.G. Drews

If there are going to be standalones in my anticipated list, they’d have to be REALLY anticipated by me.

I love Cait as a blogger on PaperFury, I’ve read many of her writing snippets that she shared and I really REALLY want the book, like, NOW. It’s going to be brilliant, I know. I just want to read that brilliance nOW PLEASE.

[10] You’ll miss me when I’m gone by Rachel Lynn Solomon

What elements that I love are in this book that make me anticipate it so much, you ask?

  1. It’s about twins. I love everything twins. Movies, books, shows—EVERYTHING.
  2. It’s about family. I love family dramas and stories. Any family bonding, relationship, discovery, new relationships—just say the word and I’M THERE.

I read a really nice ARC review about this and after checking out the synopsis, it’s quickly come into my most anticipated.

And that’s it for my most anticipated! I’ll see you in two days (because blogmas finished yesterday)!

    1. They are great! I don’t know why but I actually like waiting for books to come out and read? But as I tell all my friends, save yourself the heartbreak and read AFTER all the books are out 😂 especially Cassandra Clare books

  1. We have a lot of the same anticipated releases. I’m more excited for more standalones and new series, I just need to get caught up on some of the older ones. Some books I’m looking forward to are Batman by Marie Lu, Leah on the Offbeat, My Plain Jane and A Girl Like That 🙂

      1. Haha that’s ok! I just fell in love with the cover at first glance but after reading the blurb, the book seems like it’s going to be awesome. 😀

  2. I’ve been meaning to read Strange the Dreamer but I haven’t got round to it yet. Unpredictability sounds good though.
I’m also torn about reading the Jane books but I might read them soon because they sound fun.
    Enjoy next year’s reading.

  3. I read one short story by Laini Taylor recently, and I quite liked her style of writing. I might check out Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares too. Happy bookish 2018!
