It’s blogmas day 2! I’m seeing Christmas posts all around the blogosphere and I hope you’ll get some relief with non-Christmassy blogmas content because you frankly have no other choice with me*.
*don’t leave me plis thanks
Rhea tagged me for this yesterday (ayy look at me doing tags right away) and I thought better to do a tag immediately than forget about it and remember on my death bed when I’m thinking of everything I haven’t done in life.
1. How many books do you read at once?
Until very recently, I was strictly a one book girl unless the book really bores me. But for the past one week, I have been reading three books at once?? One is non-fiction (How to be a Bawse: A Guide to conquering life by Lilly Singh) one a paperback and I was beta-reading a book. After the beta-read, I started an ebook.
Yeah so, it depends. Now I’m probably reading more than one because they’re all of different formats and one is non-fiction, which I can’t read in one sitting.
2. If you’re reading more than one book at a time, how do you decide when to switch books?
When I’m not at home and I don’t have my paperbacks, obviously the ebook. When I’m at home and really in need of some motivation, the book by Lilly Singh. When I have the paperback and in mood for a story, I read that.
I switch according to moods as well, but since I usually end up multi-reading only because of accessibility, I just read the one I have.
3. Do you ever switch bookmarks partway through the book?
No I don’t. When I begin a book, I see through my bookmarks for the one which will match the book cover the most and I use it the whole time.
I also try to look at colours when I’m using tabs or sticky notes to mark/write something.
4. Where do you keep the books you’re currently reading?
During the day, on my bed mostly because I worry if I keep it on my table it might get ruined if it rains. My table is next to the window and I keep the window open during the day to let in sunlight.
During nights I keep the book back in the shelf.
5. What time of day do you spend the most time reading?
It used to be in the night before I slept. I don’t get sleep easily and I usually read books after I’m done with everything else, stopping when I’m sleepy enough. Sometimes this backfires and I end up reading late into the night until I finish the book. A few times I’ve even stayed up all night without meaning to and had to survive on no sleep the next day.
But recently, I’ve been becoming really tired with my everyday travel to and from college so I fall asleep right after I finish my assignments (usually 11-12pm). And since I have to be up at 6am, I try to not read. I need my sleep. In the beginning of college, I still read at nights and I had very little sleep so I try not read after the lesson I learnt.
Now I mostly read when I find times during the day—which is basically anytime, anywhere. I carry my book to college, or I read on my phone when I can. Which happens to be in classes a lot of the times*.
*shh don’t tell anyone
6. How long do you typically read in one sitting?
Depends on how much time I have before I have to be somewhere or do a time-sensitive thing. Can be any range.
7. Do you read hardbacks with the dust jacket on or off?
On but when I get really irritated with it, I remove it. Which is quite often.
8. Which position do you mainly use to read?
Whichever position I can be in, lol. If I’m outside, sitting or slightly leaning back, obviously. If I’m at home I prefer leaning against the wall with my legs up on my bed. But my favourite position is sitting on the sofa in the living room with the window open behind me and my feet on a chair.
9. Do you take the book you’re currently reading with you everywhere?
I try to. If I’m going to college, I consider the weight of my bag and decide whether or not the book is likely to get crushed. I usually don’t take my books when I go out elsewhere because most of my outings involve a purpose, or meeting with friends. And my friends would probably confiscate my book is I showed up with it.
But! My phone with the Kindle app in it is my savior. I can whip it out and read anytime.
10. How often do you update your Goodreads progress on the book you’re currently reading?
I make sure to mark the book I finished reading as soon as I can. I used to not mark currently reading books at all because I don’t remember Goodreads and I finished the books in one sitting, mostly. So not much of a point.
But lately I’ve been trying to mark currently reading. I still don’t do updates through the book most of the time, but I want to work on it. I just forget to update, is all.
And that’s it!
And if any of you want to do it, go ahead! You know my motto: do whatever tag you wish and don’t wait to get tagged for it. I’ll see you tomorrow!
Do you read multiple books at once? Why or why not? Do you prefer paperbacks or hardbacks? And are any of my answers what you would say as well? Let me know in the comments!
